Keep your details to yourself at first
- Don't share your home or work address, financial details or ID documents with someone you've only just met.
- Keep talking on kejn until you know the person better. That's why invitation notes can't contain contact details before it's mutual.
- Check what your photos give away — a street sign, a number plate, your workplace.
- kejn will never ask for your sign-in code. Nobody else should either.
Watch for red flags
- Money: never send money, gifts or loans to someone you haven't met, whatever the story.
- No calls: be careful with someone who always has a reason not to talk on a video call.
- Too fast, too soon: big feelings after a few messages are a classic sign of a scam.
- Stories that don't add up: notice when details about their life keep changing.
- Pressure to move elsewhere: scammers try to move conversations to other apps quickly.
Report anything that feels wrong
If someone makes you uncomfortable, asks for money or behaves badly, report them from their profile or your conversation. You can block them at the same time. Your report helps keep everyone safe, and they're never told who reported them.
Meeting in person
Before the date
- Talk first: a video or phone call is the easiest way to see that someone is who they say. On kejn you can start with one.
- Tell someone: let a friend know where you're going, who you're meeting and when you expect to be back.
- Choose the place: pick somewhere public that you know and can easily leave.
During the date
- Stay in public: meet in a café, a restaurant or a busy park for the first few dates.
- Get there and back on your own: use your own transport, public transport or a taxi you ordered yourself.
- Keep a clear head: know your limit, and never leave your drink unattended.
- Keep your phone charged: so you can always call for help or a ride.
- Check in: send your friend a message when you arrive and when you're home.
Trust your instincts
If something feels wrong, it probably is. You don't owe anyone an explanation for leaving. Watch out if someone:
- pushes you to go somewhere private
- ignores your boundaries
- looks very different from their photos
- makes you feel uncomfortable in any way

Consent & sexual health
Consent
Consent is a clear, informed and freely given yes. Remember:
- Only yes means yes: silence or not resisting is not consent.
- It can be withdrawn: anyone can change their mind at any time, and that must be respected.
- It's specific: agreeing to one thing doesn't mean agreeing to others.
- Not when drunk or high: someone who is very drunk or high can't give consent.
- No pressure: a yes given under pressure, manipulation or threats is not consent.
Look after your sexual health
- Use protection: condoms protect against most sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy.
- Get tested regularly: it's quick, confidential and part of looking after yourself.
- Talk about it: discuss protection and boundaries before things get physical.
Your boundaries
- You can say no to anything you're not comfortable with.
- Say what your boundaries are clearly and early.
- Respect other people's boundaries without questioning them.
- Good relationships are built on respect for each other's limits.
