The kejn promise
Before anyone starts on kejn, they promise four things. It is the standard we all hold each other to, and the one our team points to when something goes wrong.
I am who I say I am.
Use your real first name, your true age and photos of yourself that are recent and clearly show you. Have one account, and only one. Everyone verifies their ID before making contact. If you describe yourself by the age you feel, your profile shows it as "feels" — that is honest. Pretending to be someone else is not.
I reply, or I close kindly.
Someone took the time to invite you or write to you. Answer them. "Not for me" is a perfectly good answer, and nobody is told it was a no. When a conversation is not going anywhere, close it kindly — with a tap and, if you like, a short message — instead of going silent.
I show up, or I cancel early.
If you have agreed to meet or to call, be there. If plans change, say so as early as you can. Repeatedly not turning up is a reason for us to step in.
I take no for an answer.
A "not for me", a closed conversation, a blocked profile or no reply at all is an answer. Do not keep asking, do not look for the person elsewhere and do not create a new account to reach them. The same goes for every moment you spend together: consent can be withdrawn at any time, and only a clear yes counts.
Your profile
- Your main photo shows your face clearly. All photos and videos show you, and are recent.
- No nudity, no sexual poses and no underwear or swimwear photos taken in a sexual way.
- No photos of children on their own, and no photos of other people without their consent.
- No contact details in your profile text: no phone numbers, e-mail addresses, links or social media names.
- No advertising, no fundraising, and no requests for money, gifts or followers.
- Nothing hateful: no hate symbols, slurs or content that puts people down for who they are.
Invitations and conversations
- Be kind, even when you are not interested. Respect is not optional.
- Keep invitation notes free of contact details until it's mutual. The other person sees your note straight away, so let it speak for you.
- Do not send sexual messages, photos or videos to anyone who has not clearly asked for them. Never send anything intimate of someone else.
- Do not pressure anyone — for photos, for a phone number, to meet sooner, or to move to another app.
- Do not share screenshots of conversations or private details about other members.
- If kejn asks "Are you sure?" before you send something, take a second look. This check compares your words with lists of hurtful terms in many languages. It is not AI, it does not learn from your messages, and you decide whether to send.
- Photos you receive in a conversation are blurred until you tap them, so nobody can surprise you with something you did not want to see.
Meeting in person
- Meet in a public place, and arrange your own way there and back.
- Respect boundaries. Consent must be given freely, can be withdrawn at any time, and cannot be given by someone who is very drunk or high.
- Do not turn up drunk or high, and never put anything into someone else's drink.
- Behave the way you would want someone to behave with a person you love.
What happens off kejn matters too. If someone behaves badly on a date, report it. We act on what happens offline in the same way as on what happens in the app.
Never allowed
Some things lead to immediate removal from kejn, and where the law requires it or someone is in danger, we involve the authorities:
- anyone under 18 on kejn, and any sexual content involving minors;
- sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent;
- threats, violence, stalking and blackmail;
- hate speech or harassment because of origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or appearance;
- scams of any kind: asking for money, gifts, loans or financial details, investment or crypto schemes, and romance fraud;
- offering or seeking sex for money, escort services and human trafficking;
- selling drugs, weapons or anything else illegal;
- encouraging self-harm or suicide;
- fake profiles, impersonation, and accounts run by bots or by more than one person;
- spam, advertising, sales and recruitment, including multi-level marketing;
- publishing someone's private information, such as their address or workplace.
What happens when someone breaks the guidelines
Reports are reviewed by people on our team. We look at what was reported, at the context and, where it helps, at the conversation it came from. Photos and videos are also checked automatically, and anything flagged is reviewed by people.
What we do depends on how serious it is and whether it has happened before. We may remove content, give a warning, limit features such as sending invitations, show the profile less often, suspend the account for a time, or close it for good and prevent a new one. For the things that are never allowed, we close the account straight away.
When we act, we tell the member what we did, why, and how to object — unless the law prevents us or it would put someone at risk. We never tell anyone who reported them.
If you think we got it wrong, you can object within 6 months. Someone who was not involved in the first decision looks at it again. See our reporting page for how to do this.
How to report
- On a profile, open the menu (the three dots) and choose Report a concern. In a conversation, open the menu and choose Report.
- Choose what happened and add a few words if you like. You can block the person at the same time.
- Our team reviews it. The person is not told who reported them.
You can also write to safety@kejn.com, for example if you do not have an account or the person has already closed the conversation. To report illegal content formally, see our reporting page.
Blocking is always one tap away. When you block someone, they can no longer see your profile, contact you or be introduced to you, and they are not told.
If you or someone else is in danger, call the emergency services first: 112 anywhere in Europe, or 117 for the police in Switzerland.
Our safety tips have advice for before, during and after a date, and where to find support.
