Getting started
What is kejn?
kejn is a verified dating app for people who want to actually meet. Everyone you talk to is ID-checked, you get a small set of introductions each day, and every connection starts with a real invitation to meet.
How do I sign up?
- Open kejn and enter your mobile number
- Confirm the code we send you by text message
- Tell us about yourself and what you're looking for
- Add at least two photos
- Make the kejn promise
- Answer Compass Basics — eight short questions
- Verify your ID when you first make contact — it takes about two minutes
When and why do I verify my ID?
So that everyone you talk to is real. You can sign up and look around first. We ask you to verify once, the first time you make contact — when you send your first invitation or say yes to someone. It takes about two minutes: a photo of your ID and a short selfie video. Our verification partner checks it, and other members never see your document, your full name or your date of birth.
What happens to my invitation while I verify?
It's saved, and the other person doesn't see anything yet. As soon as your verification is approved, kejn sends it automatically — the same goes for a yes. If you don't finish verifying within 7 days, the saved invitation lapses without being sent. You can also keep it as a draft and send it yourself once you're verified.
Is kejn free?
Yes. Everything you need to meet someone is free: your daily introductions, three invitations a day and your conversations. The limits are there to set a calm pace, not to make you pay.
Which languages does kejn speak?
kejn is available in English, German, French and Italian, and more languages will follow. You can switch at any time in Settings. On your profile, you can show up to six languages you speak.
Invitations & conversations
How do invitations work?
When someone in Today catches your eye, you invite them to meet and say how: coffee, a drink, a walk or dinner — in person, or with a video or phone call first. They usually have two days to answer: yes, suggest something else, or not for me — privately, nobody is told it was a no. If it's a yes, it's mutual and a conversation opens.
Can I add a note to my invitation?
Yes, up to 200 characters. The other person sees it with your invitation straight away, so it's a good place to say why you'd like to meet. Leave out contact details — phone numbers, e-mail addresses, links and social media names — until it's mutual. If a note contains them, kejn asks you to change it.
How do conversations work?
Once it's mutual, you can write to each other straight away, including photos and voice messages. You have a few conversations open at a time, so each one gets real attention.
What does “close kindly” mean?
Instead of going silent, you end a conversation with a tap and, if you like, a short message — one of ours or your own. It closes for both of you, nobody is left wondering, and the place is free again. If a conversation stays silent for about a week, we remind you both and then close it.
Why only a few introductions a day?
Because endless choice makes everyone disposable. A small, considered set each day means you take a proper look, people get real attention, and every invitation means something.
When do new introductions arrive?
Every day. When you've seen today's set, Today shows when the next one arrives. If you like, kejn sends you one notification when your introductions are ready, at a time you choose — in Settings, under Notifications, Daily introductions.
What is Compass?
Compass is where your personality and values live, in three short chapters: Basics, Everyday and Closer. Every answer is tagged so you always know who sees it — on your profile, shown after a mutual yes, or private, where it only shapes your introductions.
Your profile
What does “feels 32” mean?
When you verify, we compare the age on your profile with your ID. If they're more than a year apart, you choose: show the age on your ID, or keep the age you entered as the age you feel. A feel age is shown as “feels 32”, so everyone knows it's self-described, and it's the age used in age searches. Your real age stays private — only kejn knows it. Differences of less than a year are never marked.
What do “New here”, “Settling in” and “Familiar face” mean?
They show roughly how long someone has been on kejn: New here during the first month, Settling in for up to about six months, and Familiar face after that. We show this instead of an exact date.
Can I change my location?
Yes. Your location helps us introduce you to people nearby. You can update it from your device at any time in Edit profile, and add the city you live in, which is shown on your profile. For your current location, other members only ever see a distance in whole kilometres, never where you are.
Safety & privacy
How do you protect my data?
Your connection to kejn is always encrypted. Your ID is checked by our verification partner, and other members never see your documents, your full name or your date of birth. We use no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your data. Our privacy policy explains the details.
What is the “Are you sure?” message?
Before a message or an invitation note is sent, kejn compares it with lists of hurtful words in many languages. If something matches, we ask once whether you really want to send it. It's a simple word list — not AI — and it doesn't learn from what you write. No AI reads your messages or notes. You decide whether to send.
Why are photos in my conversations blurred?
Photos sent to you are blurred until you tap them, so nothing appears that you didn't choose to see. You can turn this off in Settings, under Privacy & safety.
How do I report someone?
On their profile, open the menu and choose “Report a concern”. In a conversation, open the menu and choose “Report”. You can block them at the same time, and they're never told who reported them. People on our team review every report, usually within 24 hours.
Cost
Will kejn always be free?
Meeting someone on kejn will always be free. We may add optional paid features later, for example to set a different pace — never to decide whether you can meet someone or stay safe. If we do, you'll see the price and the conditions before you buy anything.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Right now there's nothing to cancel — kejn is free. If you buy a subscription in the future: subscriptions from the App Store or Google Play are cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings, and subscriptions bought directly from us can be cancelled at any time by writing to support@kejn.com. Your features stay active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Your account
Can I take a break?
Of course. In Settings, under Discovery, turn off “Show me in Today”. No one new is introduced to you, and your open conversations stay as they are. Turn it back on whenever you're ready.
How do I delete my account?
Go to You, then Settings, Account, Delete account, and confirm with the code we send you. Your profile disappears straight away. You have 30 days to change your mind — just sign in again. After that, your account is deleted for good. No longer have the app? Our page kejn.com/account/delete explains how to do it by e-mail.
