Terms of use

The agreement between you and kejn. We have kept it as plain as we can. Please read it before you use kejn — by creating an account, you accept it.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

kejn is a dating service on the web, on iOS and on Android. It is operated by ClickAttack Ltd, Einsiedlerstrasse 23, 8834 Schindellegi, Switzerland (company ID CHE-207.072.680), referred to here as "kejn", "we" or "us".

These terms apply to everything you do with kejn: the website, the web app and the mobile apps. Together with our community guidelines, they form the agreement between you and us. The guidelines are part of these terms.

How we handle your personal data is explained separately in our privacy policy. It is not part of this agreement, but please read it — it tells you what we do with your information and what your rights are.

If you buy something through the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google also apply their own terms to that purchase.

2. Who can use kejn

You can use kejn if all of the following are true:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are a private person looking for a relationship, a date or a connection for yourself — not for someone else and not for business.
  • You live in a country where we offer kejn.
  • You have not been convicted of a sexual offence or a violent crime against a person.
  • We have not previously removed you from kejn, unless we have told you in writing that you may come back.
  • You are allowed to enter into this agreement under the law that applies to you.

You may only have one account. Accounts are personal and cannot be sold, shared or transferred.

We open kejn region by region and keep each community balanced. If one side of a community grows too fast, new members may wait for a short time before they see introductions. You cannot pay to skip this wait.

3. Your account

You sign in with your mobile phone number and a one-time code we send to it. Use a number that belongs to you. The code is for you alone — kejn will never ask you to tell it to anyone, not even to us.

Keep the information on your profile true and up to date: your first name, your birthday, your photos and the facts about you. Photos must show you, recently, and you must be clearly recognisable in your main photo.

You are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us straight away at support@kejn.com.

4. Identity verification

Everyone you talk to on kejn has verified their identity. You can sign up, build your profile and look at your introductions first. We ask you to verify the first time you make contact — when you send your first invitation or say yes to someone.

Verification is carried out for us by our verification partner. You take a photo of an official ID document and record a short selfie video. The partner checks that the document is genuine, that it belongs to you and that you are at least 18. Other members never see your document, your full name or your date of birth. Our privacy policy explains what data is processed and for how long.

Saved invitations. If you send an invitation or say yes before you are verified, we save it and keep it for up to 7 days. The other person does not see it yet. As soon as your verification is approved, we send it automatically. If you are not verified within 7 days, or the other person is no longer available, it lapses without being sent.

A verification is valid for 12 months. After that, we ask you to verify again before you can make new contact.

If a verification fails, you can try again. We may refuse or end an account if the verification shows that you are under 18, that you are not the person in the profile, that a document is not genuine, or that you already have another account. If your ID shows that you are under 18, we close your account straight away and delete it after 30 days.

Verification tells you that a real, adult person with that identity is behind a profile. It does not tell you anything about that person's character or intentions. Please read the section on meeting people below.

5. Your age, and "feels"

Your profile shows your age, calculated from the birthday you enter. When you verify, we compare it with the birthday on your ID.

  • If the two are within 12 months of each other, we quietly use the birthday on your ID. Nothing is marked.
  • If they differ by more than 12 months, you choose: show the age on your ID, or keep the age you entered as the age you feel.

If you keep the age you feel, other members see it as "feels" followed by the number — for example "Lea, feels 32" — so everyone knows it is self-described. This feel age is the age that age filters and age searches use. Your real age stays known only to kejn and is never shown to other members.

A feel age is a way of describing yourself, not a way to deceive. You must be at least 18 regardless of the age you feel. We may remove a feel age that is used to mislead.

6. How kejn works

kejn is built for a few meaningful connections rather than endless choice. These are the main rules. The app always shows you the current numbers and times.

Today

Each day you get a limited set of introductions — people we think you might get on with. When you have seen them, that's it until the next day. If you like, we send you one notification when your new introductions are ready, at a time you choose. You can pause your profile at any time; while paused, no one new is introduced to you.

Invitations

If someone catches your eye, you invite them to meet and say how: in person (for example coffee, a walk, a drink or dinner), or with a video or phone call first. You can send a limited number of invitations each day, currently three.

  • You can add a short personal note. The other person sees it with your invitation straight away.
  • Notes must not contain contact details — no phone numbers, e-mail addresses, links or social media names — until it's mutual. The same applies to the text on your profile. We check for this and ask you to change the note if it contains them.
  • The other person has a limited time to answer, usually 48 hours. The invitation shows exactly how long. They can say yes, suggest something else, or say "not for me". Nobody is told that someone said no.
  • An invitation that is not answered in time expires.

It's mutual

When both of you have said yes, it's mutual and a conversation opens. Only then can you write to each other, send photos and voice messages, and, where available, call each other. If you agreed to start with a video or phone call, the first call is of that kind.

Conversations

You can have a limited number of conversations open at the same time; the app shows how many. Each one deserves attention, so we ask you to answer, or to close kindly: close a conversation with a tap and, if you like, a short message. The conversation then ends for both of you and the place is free again. If a conversation stays silent for about a week, we remind you both and then close it.

Photos sent to you in a conversation are blurred until you tap them. You can change this in your settings.

Compass

Compass asks about your personality and values in short chapters. Every question shows where your answer goes: on your profile, shown only after a mutual yes, or private — used only to shape your introductions. Some chapters open later, for example after your first mutual yes.

No guarantees

We do our best to introduce you to people you will like, but we cannot promise that you will meet someone, how many introductions you get, or that someone will reply. How many people we can introduce you to depends on who is on kejn near you.

7. The kejn promise and how we treat each other

Before you start, you make the kejn promise. Everyone on kejn makes the same four promises:

  • I am who I say I am.
  • I reply, or I close kindly.
  • I show up, or I cancel early.
  • I take no for an answer.

The promise and our community guidelines describe how we expect everyone to behave. In particular, you must not:

  • harass, threaten, insult, stalk or pressure anyone, on or off kejn;
  • post or send sexual content to people who have not asked for it, or any sexual content involving minors;
  • pretend to be someone else, use photos that are not of you, or create a fake or second account;
  • ask anyone for money, gifts or financial details, or use kejn for scams, sales, advertising, sex work or recruitment;
  • share contact details in invitation notes or profile text before it's mutual;
  • share private information about another person, including screenshots of conversations, without their consent;
  • use kejn for anything illegal, or to spread hate against people because of who they are;
  • use bots, scripts or scrapers, collect data from kejn, or interfere with how kejn works or how it is kept safe.

When you write something that matches our lists of hurtful words, kejn asks you once whether you really want to send it. This check compares your text with word lists in many languages. It is not AI, and it never sends anything on your behalf.

8. What you share on kejn

You keep all rights to the photos, videos, texts and voice messages you add to kejn ("your content").

So that we can run kejn, you give us a non-exclusive, free-of-charge licence, worldwide and limited to as long as we need it under these terms, to store, copy and technically adapt your content (for example resize, compress, crop, blur, convert video or take a still image from it), to show it to other members as you have chosen, and to check it for safety. We may let service providers who help us run kejn use your content for these purposes only. We do not sell your content, and we do not use your photos, videos or words in advertising outside kejn without asking you first.

The licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Messages you have already sent stay visible in the other person's conversation until your account is finally deleted; then their text is removed. We may keep copies for longer where the law requires it or where we need them to investigate a safety report.

You confirm that you are allowed to share your content, and that everyone else who appears in it agrees. Do not upload photos of children on their own, and never content that shows anyone in an intimate situation without their consent.

9. Reports, moderation and our decisions

You can report a profile or a conversation from any profile or chat, in one or two taps, and block someone at the same time. People on our team review reports. How to report, also without an account, is explained on our reporting page.

We check content in several ways. Photos and videos are checked with automated image analysis, and anything flagged is reviewed by people. Invitation notes and profile text are checked for contact details. Our team also looks at reported profiles and conversations. We may use automated tools to detect spam, fraud and misuse of accounts. When we tell you about a decision, we also tell you whether automated tools were involved.

If content or behaviour breaks these terms, our guidelines or the law, we may, depending on how serious it is:

  • remove or hide content;
  • warn you;
  • limit features, for example sending invitations;
  • limit how often your profile is shown;
  • suspend your account for a period;
  • close your account and prevent you from opening a new one;
  • inform the authorities where the law requires it, or where someone's life or safety is at risk.

When we take such a decision, we tell you what we did and why, which rule it is based on, and how you can object — unless the law prevents us, or telling you would put someone at risk. You can object free of charge within 6 months of our decision. Your objection is reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision. Details are on our reporting page.

We act in a careful, objective and proportionate way, and we take into account the rights and interests of everyone involved. We do not have to monitor everything that is shared on kejn, but we act when we learn of a problem.

Right now, kejn is free. Everything you need to meet someone — your introductions, your invitations and your conversations — costs nothing. The limits on invitations and conversations are there to set a calm pace, not to make you pay.

We may offer optional paid features or subscriptions in the future, for example to set a different pace. If we do, these rules apply:

  • Before you buy, we show you the price including any applicable VAT, what is included, how long it runs and whether it renews.
  • Purchases in the App Store or Google Play are processed by Apple or Google. Their terms apply to payment, billing and refunds. You manage and cancel these subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings. To avoid the next renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Purchases on the web are processed by our payment partners. You can cancel a web subscription at any time, in your settings or by writing to support@kejn.com.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the price you agreed, unless you cancel before the end of the current period. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep the paid features until then.
  • If we want to change the price of a subscription, we tell you at least 30 days in advance. You can cancel before the new price applies. For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, their rules on price changes also apply.
  • Single purchases are used up when you use them. If something expires, we tell you before you buy.
  • Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Deleting your kejn account cancels a web subscription; App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled in your Apple or Google account.

If you live in the European Union, you have a statutory right of withdrawal. How it works, and when it ends early for digital services, is explained on our withdrawal page. Swiss law does not provide a general right of withdrawal for purchases made online.

Apart from that, we refund payments where the law requires it. If we close your account without you having broken these terms, we refund the unused part of anything you paid us directly.

11. Meeting people

kejn helps you meet people, but we are not present when you do. Identity verification confirms that a real adult with that identity is behind a profile. We do not carry out criminal record checks, and we cannot vouch for what anyone says or does.

You are responsible for your own decisions and for how you behave towards others, on kejn and when you meet. Take your time, start with a call if you prefer, meet in a public place, and tell a friend where you are going. Our safety tips have more advice.

If you are ever in danger, call the emergency services first (112 in Europe, 117 for the police in Switzerland). Then tell us, so we can act.

12. Availability and changes to kejn

We work hard to keep kejn available and secure, but we cannot promise that it will always work without interruption or errors. We may need to pause kejn briefly for maintenance or updates, and we try to do so at quiet times.

kejn will keep developing. We may add, change or remove features, as long as the main purpose stays the same — introducing you to people and helping you meet them — and the change is reasonable for you. If a change takes away something you have paid for, we tell you in advance and you can cancel; you receive a proportional refund for the time you have already paid for.

13. Liability

We are fully liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited, for example under product liability law.

For slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an essential obligation — one that makes it possible to provide kejn at all and that you can normally rely on. In that case, our liability is limited to the typical damage that could be foreseen when you agreed to these terms. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for slight negligence.

We are not responsible for what other members say or do, on or off kejn, unless we are liable for it under the rules above — for example because we failed to act on a report when we should have.

These rules also apply to the personal liability of our employees and of the people who work for us.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the rights that the law of your country of residence gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.

14. Ending the agreement and deleting your account

You can end this agreement at any time by deleting your account in the app. You do not need to give a reason. How it works, what we delete and what we have to keep is explained on our account deletion page. After you ask us to delete your account, it is hidden straight away and finally deleted after 30 days. If you sign in again within those 30 days, the deletion is cancelled.

If you do not use your account for 24 months, we let you know. If you do not come back within 30 days, we delete it. We can end the agreement with 30 days' notice, for example if we stop offering kejn in your country. We can end it immediately for good cause, in particular if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the guidelines, put other members at risk, give false information about your identity or age, or if the law requires it.

When the agreement ends, the parts that by their nature should continue — for example on liability and governing law — still apply.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when there is a good reason — for example a new feature, a change in the law or a court decision, or to improve safety. We will not change the main obligations between us, such as an agreed price, without your consent.

We publish the new version here with its date, and we tell you about changes at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. If you keep using kejn after the changes take effect, the new terms apply. We will remind you of this, and of your right to leave, when we tell you about the changes. Where the law requires your express consent, we will ask for it.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you normally live, and where the law there does not allow a choice of law, those rules apply.

If you are a consumer, you can take legal action against us in the courts of the place where you live or at our registered office, and we can only take legal action against you in the courts of the place where you live. For everyone else, the courts at our registered office in Switzerland have jurisdiction.

If something goes wrong, please talk to us first at support@kejn.com — most things can be sorted out quickly. For moderation decisions, our internal complaint process and certified out-of-court dispute settlement bodies are available, as described on our reporting page.

We are not obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board and do not generally do so. The European Commission's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform was closed on 20 July 2025, so we do not refer to it.

17. Other provisions

If one provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain valid.

We may transfer this agreement to another company that takes over kejn, provided your rights under these terms are not reduced. We will tell you in advance, and you can delete your account if you do not agree.

These terms are available in English, German, French and Italian. All versions have the same meaning. If they differ, the meaning that is more favourable to you applies.

We may contact you in the app, by push notification, by text message (for sign-in codes) and, if you have given us an address, by e-mail.
